I went to a sign language festival for my asl class. It was one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. It was so interesting to see all these hands moving and people talking. There were a a lot of deaf people there. There were also hearing people there. There were different tables set up and booths of info. I interacted with some hearing people and some deaf people. It was interesting to really submerge myself in deaf culture.
Being a fish out of water made me appreciate a lot of things. It made me have more appreciation for being born with all the right parts. It taught me a lot about culture and naivety in the hearing world. It even made me come to more of a realization of how much I love my Mom. Sometimes you have to submerge yourself in a different culture just to see things from their perspective.
